A new gallery commission on the easel. Resin to be poured today.
"Awakened" used U.S. postage stamps & resin on canvas 40" x 40" (102cm) To me, cemeteries hold a unique beauty and meditative quality. These serene spaces, often adorned with elegantly crafted tombstones and beautiful greenery, evoke a sense of tranquility and introspection. Perhaps most important to me is the prevailing silence that fosters introspection and contemplation, providing a much-needed relief from everyday digital life. The winding pathways and roads through the trimmed greens create a peaceful environment, inviting individuals to reflect on the passage of time and the impermanence of life. Far from being gloomy, these spaces offer a chance to embrace our mortality, reminding us of the value of our own existence and the importance of cherishing every moment. St. Boniface Catholic cemetery is no exception. Located on Chicago's North Side, at Clark Street and Lawrence Avenue, St. Boniface was dedicated in 1863 to serve the German Catholic community of the Chicago area. The cemetery is named for Saint Boniface, who died in 754 A.D. after 36 years of missionary service. Saint Boniface was known as The Apostle of Germany.
