"Home of the Brave" used U.S. postage stamps and resin on canvas 36 x 60 in (91 x 152 cm) "Star Spangled" used U.S. postage stamps and resin on canvas 36 x 24 in (91 x 61 cm) The Blue Angels in IMAX offers the ultimate experience for anyone who has a deep appreciation and admiration not only for the skill required to perform these incredible flying maneuvers, but also for the remarkable technology of the jets involved. As someone who's been captivated by The Blue Angels since childhood, seeing them like this on the big screen with all the inside information and behind the scenes look was an incredible experience. The cinematography is nothing short of spectacular. It beautifully captures the precision flying that the Blue Angels are renowned for. But what also sets this movie apart is not only its tribute to the pilot’s skill, discipline, and commitment, but also to the unsung heroes behind the scenes. The pilots may be the stars of the show, but it's also the unwavering dedication and tireless effort of the entire support crew that make their performances even possible. The film beautifully showcases the camaraderie, discipline, and absolute commitment of all these individuals, reminding us that it is their teamwork that makes it all possible. While I may not have had the privilege of experiencing the Blue Angels from the unique vantage point of their official team photographers, I've found immense joy in attempting to capture the magnificence of their performances during their regular visits to Chicago over the past many years. Positioning myself along the shores of Lake Michigan, and often using my longest lens, I've attempted to capture their breathtaking aerial displays with my feet firmly planted I the sand. Here are some of my highlights from over the years.
