"Boulevard du Temple" by Louis Daguerre
Louis Daguerre’s groundbreaking image of a shoe shiner and his customer on this Paris Boulevard is the first known instance of human beings captured in a photograph. Do to the technology and specific process, this exposure was several minutes long, some estimate 10-15 minutes. Because of this long exposure, no other people or carriages are captured on this busy Paris street.
