Inner Currents is a contemporary geometric mandala constructed from hundreds of vintage postage stamps arranged in a directional vortex pattern inspired by the seven chakras. The work incorporates a custom-built display shelf housing seven natural crystals, allowing viewers to interact with the piece through grounding, meditation, and/or intention-setting.
At its core, Inner Currents is a meditation on interconnectedness. The use of postage stamps, objects that once carried personal messages across distance, evokes themes of communication, human connection, and collective memory. Each used stamp contributes its own hidden history to the unified mandala. The color progressions and choices align with the seven primary chakras, creating an energetic spectrum that invites introspection, stillness, and presence.
The integrated crystal shelf transforms the work into a functional ritualistic and meditative object, giving the viewer an opportunity to hold a corresponding stone while engaging with the piece and their own presence. This tactile component deepens the experience, inviting a moment of grounding, reflection, and alignment as the viewer’s attention meets the artwork’s geometric flow and energetic field.

Concept & Intention
Crystal Identifier
Inner Currents includes a felt-lined shelf holding seven large crystals, each associated with corresponding chakras. Viewers are invited to remove the crystals and use them during viewing, meditation, or contemplation. The crystals may be displayed on the shelf in any order, and the arrangement can be personalized over time. Owners are welcome to add, substitute, or replace stones according to their preferences or evolving practice, creating a display that reflects their own energy and intention.
The Chakras
In many energetic traditions, the chakras are viewed as subtle centers of life-force within the body that help shape our sense of grounding, emotion, expression, clarity, and awareness. Together, they form an interconnected system through which energy continually moves and transforms. When this flow is balanced, we experience a natural sense of alignment and presence; when it becomes unsettled, we may feel tension or disconnection. Inner Currents invites viewers to gently explore this energetic landscape, using color, pattern, and the tactile presence of crystals, to reconnect with their own internal rhythm and create moments of clarity and harmony.

Interactive Element - Three-Level Experience
Level 1: Passive Presence
Display the work in a meditative space, work or living area. The mandala and crystals naturally harmonize the room. Even without interaction, Inner Currents functions as a calm visual anchor in a space. Display the work wherever you’d like the energy to feel centered, such as a living area, meditation corner, office, studio, or bedroom. The layered stamp mandala creates a subtle sense of movement and balance, while the crystals contribute a grounded, natural presence.
This tier is the “ambient mode” of the artwork: simply having it in the room encourages a more mindful atmosphere. No extra steps are needed, just let the piece exist with you.
Helpful Tips:
Level 2: Intuitive Interaction
Viewers select a crystal intuitively, hold it gently, and gaze into the vortex artwork while practicing a short guided breathwork pattern like deep breathing through the nose. This tier is a light, approachable way to engage with the artwork more intentionally. The viewer simply chooses the crystal they feel drawn to, whether because of color, texture, weight, or instinct. There is no “right” choice; intuition is the guide.
Hold the crystal comfortably in your hand, and take 20–60 seconds to look into the center of the vortex. This brief focus, combined with a simple breathing pattern, helps quiet the mind and gives the viewer a small reset.
Suggested Breath Pattern:
Level 3: Chakra Balance
This tier deepens the interaction by pairing a specific crystal with a intention or goal based on the crystal and its chakra and energy relationships. Choose a crystal based on a specific goal or need, such as grounding, confidence, emotional balance, communication, or clarity, and uses deep breathwork, visualization, and focus to direct the energy and your intentions.
While holding the chosen crystal, gaze at the vortex artwork pattern and visualizes the corresponding area of the body softening and opening. This doesn’t need to be mystical in nature, simply imagine directing your attention and your inhale toward that part of the body abd charka location.
